Sooo we were doubly excited once we found out Jess had been nominated for a Creative Arts Emmy for costume design on House Of Cards: one, just because its a super-rare, awesome thing in any field to be publicly validated for your work...and two, it was gonna give us a chance to display our Heywood and Ringo collection on the Red Carpet!!!
We chose a custom navy shawl-lapel tux for me to wear; I wanted something classic Hollywood: simple, classic, not trendy. Once I received it, I realized our custom folks had really knocked this look out of the park!
Jess also surprised me with some custom "Emmys" embroidery.
Our buddy Lorenzo was also nominated for Sound Mixing on HOC. We hooked him up with our custom black tux, classic slim fit white shirt and black bow tie. A veteran of the Emmys (nominated 4 times), Lorenzo said it was the best fitting tux he'd ever had.
Lastly, we got a call a week before the show from actor Martin Starr's stylist, saying he needed a tux as he was going to be presenting Saturday night. You probably recognize Martin from not only the HBO "Silicon Valley", but also recently as the "Hotwire Guy" and NBC's "Freaks and Geeks". We were super stoked to be able to work with Martin--he's an incredibly nice guy and a total pro. Martin wore our made to measure black shawl lapel tuxedo, white wing tipped tuxedo shirt and black velvet bow tie.
So grateful to be able to experience a show like the Emmys. We had an awesome time, saw some old friends, and hopefully Jess will get another nomination next year ;) (fingers crossed haha).
Also, If you wanna check out the 2017 Creative Arts Emmys, it will air on the FXX channel on September 16th at 7pm and will be available online on September 17th on the Television Academy's website.
