Our Picks for Best Dressed at the 2017 ESPYs

July 14, 2017

Ahhh the ESPYS…where we get to cheer the amazing outfits of the “athlete Grammies” as well as jeer the utter ridiculous, all gathered for the uber-rich sports world to pat each other on the back for being mostly, well, uber-rich.  For reasons of space and time, we’ll stick to the outfits we thought were amazing and leave the hate for whomever claims to be the Joan Rivers of the sports-red-carpet-show-critique.

We at Heywood & Ringo err on the classic usually, because lets face it, classic works in almost every situation.  True, the ESPYs and the sports world are usually opportunities for celebrity athletes to push the boundaries of fashion as spectacle, but more often than not, a classic black tux like Russell Wilson dons here and the Mad Men-esque grey checked suit Michael Phelps wears will stand the test of time.

Possibly the best outfit of the night:  earth tones like this brown double-breasted number are hot right now.  Mr. Breaking Bad is definitely killing the game.

Pretty much everything is done right in this photo of New England Patriots members in attendance, especially the contrast lapels on the tuxes.

Presenter Elizabeth Olsen rocks what might be one of the top looks of the year on any red carpet.  There’s just something amazing about women in tuxes; )   Renner’s monotone palette is definitely on point, too.  Classic done right!
